In the TLC, we believe every student deserves moments of joy throughout their school day. Recognizing that life can sometimes be challenging and stressful for our students, we aim to be a source of light and support. We firmly believe that kids should have the chance to simply be kids. We also understand that not all students identify as readers, and we strive to create a welcoming environment where every student feels valued and included.
Our sweet girl Ellie May visits the TLC weekly. Her joyful presence brings peace and calm to our students. We have students that stop by weekly to get in their cuddles.
Each month we bring math into the TLC - our themed challenges earn kids chances to win gift cards, treats, and books!
Even though they are high schoolers they love our monthly I Spy sheets
Our displays change monthly and represent the rich and diverse backgrounds of our student body
We host egg hunts throughout the school. Kids can bring the eggs to the TLC for a treat
Each year we host the Human Library where students have the opportunity to "check out" a human and hear their story
Opportunities for creativity are essential to our kids. We have button makers, a sewing machine, and a book binding machine for kids to use
We want our students to have everything they need. They don't have to ask when they need a bandaid, hair tie, chapstick, etc.
Who doesn't love a giant game? We have lots including Jenga, Connect 4, checkers, and even Uno
If students need a tie for an interview or special occasion they stop and pick one up. We also have videos on tying a tie
