Meet Ms. Smith

Since 2008, she has been teaching and making a big difference in students lives. Before coming to Lufkin, she taught in Harnett, Lee, and Cumberland County. She didn’t plan on becoming a teacher at first she just kind of fell into it but now she loves it. She said her favorite thing about teaching is getting to know each student and watching them grow and do better throughout the year. While she enjoys teaching at Lufkin and appreciates the supportive staff, she acknowledges that one of the biggest challenges is managing student behavior and keeping kids focused and motivated to learn. Her ability to be easy to talk to, stay updated with all the "hip" word, and adapt to any situation make teaching the perfect role for her.  Her dream job is to be an FBI detective one day, and if she could teach anywhere in the world she’d go to a super small town in the middle of nowhere. On the way to school, she likes to listen to country music to start her day.
