Meet Ms. Harbour
Ms. Harbour is the 6-1 social studies teacher at Lufkin Road. She decided to start teaching when she was young because her mother was a teacher, and she enjoyed going to school with her. She used to play school with her sister, and the two would argue over who got to be the teacher.
She chose to teach at Lufkin because she had a friend whose daughters attended the school and heard great things about the students and staff. She also appreciates the year-round schedule. Ms. Haurbor decided to become a social studies teacher because she loves history and reading, making Social Studies a perfect fit for her.
Her favorite subject when she was in school was Language Arts, and she has taught both 7th and 6th grade ELA. One of her favorite units was when she taught 6th grade ELA and got to do the unit about sustaining the oceans and reading “Flush” by Carl Hiaasen. Her favorite project is the “My Favorite Place” project at the beginning of the year, where students showcase the five themes of geography in their favorite place.
Her favorite part about teaching 6th grade is seeing how excited the students are at the beginning of the year, ready to make new friends. She loves coming to school every day because she enjoys learning and discovers something new daily. She feels confident about the lessons and loves seeing students happy and excited to participate.
One fun fact about her is that she has a small mixed-breed dog named Bailey, and her nickname is BeBop. Overall, Ms. Haurbor is a loving social studies teacher who cares about her students' education and her teaching.
