Do you ever think the other team just got lucky? That’s exactly what many people believe about the Florida Gators winning the national championship. Some argue the Gators relied on luck, pointing to their dramatic comebacks—especially erasing a 12-point deficit in the final against the Houston Cougars. But I see it differently. Their performance was a clear display of skill, resilience, and composure under pressure. Take Walter Clayton Jr., for example—his clutch three-pointer against Texas Tech tied the game and propelled the Gators to the Final Four. When you have to beat Norfolk State, UConn, Maryland, Texas Tech, Auburn, and Houston, that’s not luck; that’s talent. If it were just luck, it would’ve run out long ago against the elite competition they faced. That’s why I believe the Florida Gators truly earned their national championship.
