Reading/Writing: Students have worked hard on their opinion essays on water pollution. This week they are revising, editing and publishing their work.

Math: Students are continuing to practice elapsed time. Students will take their last math assessment on time on May 9th just before we trackout.

EOG Review: Students are reviewing the mock EOG they took last week and practicing going back to the text to reread and highlight evidence from the text when answering questions. Students are also reviewing and practicing the most commonly missed standards in math from the 3rd quarter this week.

Our 2nd walk/bike to school day is this Wednesday, May 8. Walk from home or join with other students and staff by 8:15am in front Domino’s at Brier Creek (Brierdale Shopping Center) and walk to school as a group. We would love all parents who are able to walk to add feet to the ground, but if you cannot stay, you can drop off your children – please find a staff or PTA member before leaving your child so we can ensure their safety.

May 9 and 10 Food Drive: Remember to “lend a hand ….bring a can” to help stock the Food Bank of Wake County by bringing can(s) to school on Thursday and Friday mornings.

It’s that time of year and EOG’s are upon us. We are looking for approved volunteers who would be willing to be proctors for EOG testing in grades 3-5. Please see the sign up genius for Track 1 and for Tracks 2-4 for more information and to sign up and support us. We greatly appreciate you considering volunteering your time!! Any questions can be directed to Melissa Gough at mgough@wcpss.net

EOG Prep - EOG testing will be on June 17 and 18 this year. We begin EOG prep in the classroom this week. We will review reading and math skills for the next 3 weeks and again when we return from track out from June 5-14. This week, students will take a mock Reading EOG and work on a spiral skills review for math. During the upcoming track out, I will send home reading and math packets as well as the mock reading test and the math spiral review. Of course, these packets are optional but if you're child has the time to complete the activities, it would be helpful to keep students in preparation mode considering we test shortly after returning from track out.
