SSA - or Single Subject Acceleration - is the practice of placing a student in an accelerated ELA or Math class for the purpose of providing access to appropriately challenging learning opportunities. It is an opportunity for students to advance in ELA or Math by demonstrating mastery through an assessment.

What curriculum is covered?
The tests will cover the NC curriculum standards for each grade level. For your convenience, links to the materials are listed below. Please be sure to look at the test for the grade level your student is looking to skip, not their current grade level material.
NC Math Standards - The Unpacking Documents include examples of what is being assessed for each standards. Many parents find those to be helpful.
Another link that may be useful is the WCPSS K-12 Mathematics site.
NC ELA Standards - The Understanding the ELA Standard Course of Study for each grade level includes clarification of the standards as well as a glossary of terms.
