(Beginning Spanish Less than a Year)
This semester long course begins the study of the Spanish language and culture and is the first part in the Spanish curriculum series for high school credit. Students will have the opportunity to practice their speaking, writing, listening and reading skills every day. Major topics of study this semester include greetings, conversation questions, the alphabet, describing yourself and others, expressing likes and dislikes, adjectives, family members and describing family members. Students who successfully complete this course should continue the Spanish curriculum series for high school credit by taking Intermediate Spanish.
Intermediate Spanish
(Beginning Spanish Year 1)
Pre-requisite: Beginning Spanish.
This semester long course continues the study of the Spanish language and culture, refining grammatical structures and vocabulary topics. Students will have the opportunity to practice their speaking, writing, listening and reading skills every day. We will start the semester with comprehensive review of Beginning Spanish (greetings, likes and dislikes, family members, etc.) Major topics that we will learn this semester include: The day at school and the schedule, food, how to order food in a restaurant, and much more. Students who successfully complete this course should continue the Spanish curriculum series for high school credit by taking Advanced Spanish.
Advanced Spanish - High School Credit for Spanish I
Pre-requisite: Intermediate Spanish.
This year long course continues the study of the Spanish language and culture, refining grammatical structures and vocabulary topics.
We will start the year with comprehensive review of Beginning and Intermediate Spanish (greetings, likes and dislikes, family members, the school day, restaurant, etc.) Major topics that we will learn this semester include activities and places you can go during your free time, the house, room of the house and house chores.
Students who complete this course successfully and who pass the exit exam (worth 20% of the overall grade) earn high school credit for Spanish I -May take Spanish II at the high school level.
