Hello! I am so excited to be your child's second grade teacher this year!
I have 10+ years of experience working with children in both regular education and special education settings: summer camps, private schools, performing arts school, preschool, and finally public school!
I hold a degree in Child Development from Meredith College and a Masters in Special Education from North Carolina State University. I am also licensed by the state of North Carolina in both regular education (K-6) and special education (K-12).
I proudly represented PUE as Teacher of the Year for the 2022-2023 school year. I was then selected by the Wake County Public School System as a semi-finalist for Teacher of the Year for the whole county. I was named one of the top 20 teachers out of the 11,000 in the Wake County Public School System.
This is my 11th year at PUE! I started out as a IA in 1st grade and did that for 2 years. Next I moved on to student teaching in special education. That same year I was also long-term substitute in 5th grade and then a reading intervention teacher for K-2. I taught for 3 years in 3rd grade, and this is my sixth year in 2nd. I have a long time connection with PUE: my husband Will was a 5th grade graduate in 1999 and my mother-in-law, Pam Blemker, taught here in 2nd grade for close to 10 years, and I currently teach in her old classroom.
Will and I have adopted 4 rescue dogs. Lucky, Rocky, Maggie, and Josie are all Chihuahua-mixes! 4 under 6 years old- our house is a circus in the best kind of way! We also have 2 sweet nieces and a nephew that we love spending time with as well.
Over track out, we love to travel. We enjoy cruising with Royal Caribbean and going to Disney World.
We love going to Disney World!
