Ryan Hahner grew up in Scotch Plains, New Jersey. He has been a nationally certified athletic trainer for 14 years, and is currently licensed in the state of North Carolina. Ryan started his career at the University of Delaware, graduating in January of 2004. During his time as a Blue Hen, he was elected the junior athletic trainer of the year in 2003. He also spent time interning with the New York City Metrostars, the major league soccer team now known as the Red Bulls. After graduation, Ryan served as the Head Athletic Trainer at Smyrna High School in Delaware. His work here was cut short due to two military moves with his wife. During that time he was able to obtain a position at Duke Hospital working for an orthotics company. In 2006 with a move to Raleigh, NC, he became the Head Athletic Trainer for the Southeast Raleigh Bulldogs. He has been a part of 13 track state championships, 4 eastern championships in women’s basketball, and numerous conference championships. Several of his students have moved on to be integral parts of the athletic training carrier field. Numerous have graduated with a degree in athletic training, and several are currently working in the high school setting. At least two are currently in division IA schools, working as assistant athletic trainers. In 2015 Ryan was asked to fill in as the Shrine Bowl’s sports medicine equipment manager. At which point in 2017 the Shriner's asked Ryan to become a permanent member in that same position. In 2019 the head of the Sports Medicine Program for the Shrine Bowl asked Ryan to serve as the Head North Carolina Athletic Trainer, a position he holds to this day. He is proud to have a great working relationship with Dr. Edwin Cadet and Raleigh Orthopaedic. With whom together, they took over the new sports medicine program at South Garner High School in 2018.
