Welcome to 2nd Grade!
I was born and raised right here in Wake County. I grew up and went to Middle Creek Elementary in Apex. I started riding horses when I was just 6 years old and have not stopped. In the picture, is my current lease horse named Scout. He is a 15.1hh Bay Quarter Horse and we are working on starting our Western journey this year.
As for teaching, I student taught at Baucom Elementary in 2nd grade and loved it! After, being hired by DDES 3 years ago. I will continue to teach 2nd grade. I can't wait to see what great things our class discovers this year!
One thing teachers are asked often is, "Who inspired you to become a teacher?"
For me, there are 2 teachers that come to mind. First, was my 6th grade Math teacher, Mrs. Gulicci. I remember her being so much fun and I looked forward to being in her class when life was confusing and difficult. Secondly, my High School Band Director, Dr. Markoch or as everyone calls him "Doc". Doc had (and still does have) one of the biggest influences on my life. He has so much joy and life when he teaches that you just can't help but be excited too. To this day, I am convinced that the only reason I made it through high school with a smile on my face was because of him. Doc and the Athens Drive HS Marching Band, are still some of my best memories of High School. Go Jags!
I graduated with Bachelors degree in Education with a concentration in Natural Sciences (mainly Geology, Astronomy, and Geography) in 2021 from Appalachian State University. (Go Mountaineers!) I spent 5 years in college and met some of my best friends and fellow teachers during those 5 years.
I was also part of the Marching Mountaineers Marching Band for 4 years, where I played the Bb clarinet.
Pictured above are my parents and myself at graduation. I also have 1 older brother (John) and 1 younger brother (Will).
Pictured above are my families two dogs. On the left is George and on the right is Bella Mia.
