Hello, Scientists!
I'm Mrs. Fleegle, and I am so excited to be teaching Science this year at Olive Chapel!
I’ve been in education for the past 11 years, most recently teaching at Morrisville Elementary—where both of my children attended when they were younger. While teaching is now my focus, science was my very first love.
I actually used to be a scientist! Before becoming a teacher, I worked in a lab researching and developing new medicines. Now, I get to bring that real-world experience into the classroom and share the wonder of science with you!
A little about me: I grew up right here in Cary and went to local schools—Farmington Woods Elementary, Martin Middle, East Cary, and Cary High School. I earned my degree in Molecular Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Meredith College.
Outside of the classroom, I’m a huge Disney fan—I have a collection of 141 Disney DVDs and counting! I also love all things Harry Potter and am a proud member of Ravenclaw.
I can't wait to explore, experiment, and discover with you this year. Let’s get ready for an amazing science adventure!
My husband, Kevin, and I just celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary! Not only did I attend Meredith College for my degree, but we were also married there—it’s a very special place for us.
My daughter, Elizabeth, graduated from Green Hope High School this year and will be attending NC State in the fall. She’s been dancing since she was little— I was a dancer growing up, too!
My son, Jacob, will be a junior at Green Hope next year. He loves everything outdoors and plays baseball— baseball is my favorite sport!
Our family has one dog—a silver lab named Luna—who will turn 12 in January. She loves keeping watch from her favorite perch (as we like to say) and never misses a chance to greet people walking along the greenway behind our house.
My family loves going to Disney and taking Disney Cruises for our vacations. This year, we spent a few days at the parks and then set sail on the Disney Wish to celebrate my daughter’s graduation—it was a truly magical trip!
One of my favorite hobbies is baking and decorating cakes. Years ago, I even made an edible Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon for my son’s 4th birthday cake—it’s still one of my favorites!
