Grading

Wake County Schools employs Standards Based Grading in Music. Students receive a content grade at the end of each semester. The content grade is a reflection of the growth and development of students as they participate in the elementary music instructional program. The content grade uses the rating scale of:

Level 4: Student consistently performs independently the Music Goal(s)identified, integrates personal experience and involves critical judgements.

Level 3: Student demonstrates continually improving knowledge and skills to show independent mastery of Music Goal(s).

Level 2: Student is inconsistent in demonstration of knowledge and skills to show mastery of identified Music Goal(s).

Level 1: Student is unable to exhibit knowledge and skills to show mastery of identified Music Goal(s).

For each level of grading, students will also be graded on level of participation. If you ever have a question about your child's grade and participation, please do not hesitate to contact me.
