About me

Hello and welcome to my page!

My name is Robyn Dembisky and I am a science teacher at Wakefield High School (Raleigh, North Carolina). I am a NC native growing up in Winston-Salem, the place I called home for 26 years, and recently become a Raleigh resident.

I am a graduate of Mars Hill University (located 20-min west of Asheville) where I played collegiate softball (3rd base) and studied biology and science education. After graduating, I began my teaching career at my alma-mater, North Davidson High School (Lexington, NC). During this time I taught standard/honors Earth & Environmental science, Physical science, standard/honors/AP Biology, honors Physics and AP Physics 1. While teaching at NDHS I enrolled in an online-program at East Carolina University where I obtained my M.A.Ed in Science Education; I love school!

In January of 2019 my family suffered the loss of my father (and best friend) to rectal/colon cancer, caner is a passionate biological topic of mine, and I decided I was ready for a life change; Raleigh-bound for new adventures. The Wakefield community welcomed me with open arms in the fall of 2019, giving me the opportunity to teach honors biology and AP Physics. I have also been given the opportunity to be the Assistant Softball coach here at WHS. Additionally, I am a co-sponsor for Science Olympiad and the sponsor for Pickleball club. I am glad to have found this school, these students/families, and my new friends.

Since moving to the triangle, my husband (Chase) and I have become avid pickleball players (mixture of tennis, ping pong, and badminton). We purchased our first home right before the Covid-19 pandemic where our "puppies" (Emmitt and Tucker) like to run in the backyard and sleep on the couch. Throughout my home, classroom, and webpage you can find my collection/love of owls.

I enjoy listening to music, running, reading, cooking, sports, and Disney movies.

I am very afraid of heights (acrophobia) and frogs (ranidaphobia).

I am full of energy, I am passionate about science, and I truly love teaching!
