Use the Math Waiver Form if you would like to request a math placement for the 2026–2027 school year that differs from the recommendation provided by your student’s teacher.

Before submitting the form, families are encouraged to carefully review the Middle School Math Placement Guidelines and discuss the request with their student’s current math teacher. Important factors to consider include test scores, grades, classroom performance, work habits, motivation, individual learning style, and overall academic needs related to math.

The Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) Middle School Program Planning Guide provides an overview of the curriculum for students in grades 6–8. 

It highlights core academic subjects—language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies—along with health and physical education and a variety of elective course options designed to support student interests and growth. 

Here you will find 6th grade elective courses options for the next school year. Students will register for their electives based on their assigned track for the 2026-27 school year. If you do not know your track assignment, please check with your elementary school counselor. 

⚠️ It is important to note that the availability of elective courses is dependent upon the Holly Grove Middle School master schedule, and choosing an elective does not guarantee its availability in your child’s individual schedule.
