About Mrs. Reichel

Hi! My name is Mrs. Michelle Reichel and I am so excited to be returning to Mills Park for another year. I have been with Mills Park Elementary since it opened in 2008.

At Mills Park, I taught third grade for 10 years. I also taught special education (autism support). I am excited to be teaching fourth grade again this year.

I was born and raised in Erie, Pennsylvania (on Lake Erie, see picture) where I received my Bachelor of the Arts degrees in elementary and special education at Mercyhurst College (now called Mercyhurst University). Shortly after graduation, I moved to Florida and began my teaching career as a fourth grade teacher in Tampa, Florida, teaching fourth grade.

I married my husband, Nick, on 7-7-07. In 2008, my husband and I decided to make a move to North Carolina to be a little closer to home (Pennsylvania) and to pursue other professional goals.

In 2012, I completed my Masters of Education in Literacy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Go Tarheels!!!). Also in 2011-2012, I participated in a year-long process in order to receive National Board Certification in Early-Middle Childhood Literacy. The process involved video-taping myself while teaching then watching it back and reflecting. It also involved developing a portfolio and completing computerized assessments. This process was a lot of work, yet very rewarding.

I have a daughter, Addie Lynn, who is in fourth grade this year. She is so much fun.

My family (Mr. Reichel, Addie Lynn, and our dog, Maggie) enjoy living in Holly Springs. Addie Lynn and I dance at Holly Springs School of Dance. I also enjoy spending time with my friends and family. I love to travel, learn, and share my learning with others. Experimenting in the kitchen and with crafts are two more of my hobbies.
