Upon hire, Ticket submitted to help staff get laptop (email to helpdesk@wcpss.net)
Staff will receive email directions for WakeID login and pickup info for staff to their home email address.
Add new staff (AND STUDENT TEACHERS) to these locations:
Add new staff to Shared Google Drive
Add new staff to a Canon Printer Mailbox. (Admin link to setup directions.)
On campus, login to the Windows11 network with the information below. This will get you connected to on-campus servers for file saving and attaching to our internet.
*this is for Student Teachers too!
Your username is the same as your WakeID (the first part of you email address).
Your Initial password is your last name, 4-digit year of birth and wcpss in lowercase letters. You will be prompted to change your password when you first log into your WCPSS Windows laptop.
EXAMPLE:
username: rsmith
password: smith1980wcpss
Staff member becomes Pre-hire
They get email (personal email)
Tech Services is notified
TS sends an email (personal email) for them to choose laptop delivery date (on or after start date)
Device sent to school to the new employee
If the employee didn’t get the emails put in helpdesk ticket.
Hiring situations vary depending on the hire so the timeline may vary.
Hires are asked to pick a delivery date because in some cases the pre-hire to start date may be more than a month apart; and with 10, 11, 12 months and track outs it is hard to track when they will be in the building to receive their device
This won't work until you see the new staff in this list of "Staff" members at your school.

Email should be activated when WakeID is claimed. Sometimes, the mailbox or inbox isn't activated. Help Desk ticket if that's the case.
New staff will automatically be entered in your Staff email group. Check, just to be sure with interns and student teachers.
UID - staff can now find UID for NCEdCloud in the WakeID portal under Profiles.
Powerschool: Once you’re in your WakeID, it might take a day or two before you see the link for Powerschool (PS).
If you're new to Wake County, you'll need to "Claim my Account" by using your SS, your birthdate, and our LEA number, 920.
After that, you' won't need a password, just your login username/your 10 digit NCUid number. This is found on your paystub.
If you are getting the message "..access is denied.." try the following:
a) Try using a different web browser (if using Chrome try Firefox or even Internet Explorer: try all 3 web browsers) *Note: Also try deleting the web browsing history.
b) Try logging in to PowerSchool from the intranet home page:
