When scheduled, we can easily set up quiet places in the library for 6 groups to record. (7 groups if room 101C is available.)
Students in the laminator room, Library Office, or Copy room will use the built in microphone in their Chromebook.
Students in corners of the library will use our podcasting microphones.
When recording, the student will toggle the input to say "USB Microphone" since it plugs in to the USB. No installation necessary.
The best way to assign a podcast for your students is to create an assignment within Canvas with the assignment type "media recording." This is easier than embedding a recording in a Google Slide. Students have two options, editing or quick submission.
Students can open Studio from the Global Navigation Menu. They should choose "Record from Webcam" but then unchoose the camera to make it a Podcast.
After Recording, they can go to their Studio Files, called Library and click on the 3 dots to edit the file. -->
Studio Editing Notes:
You can only edit media you access through the My Library page within Canva.
You cannot edit embedded course media from its location in the course.
You can only edit media you have uploaded to Studio.
You cannot edit imported Youtube videos.
Once you've completed your file, go back to the assignment page and choose "Canvas Studio" to get to the library to "Embed" then "Submit."
When opening the assignment, choose "Media." Canvas will open a program within the interface for them to record audio with or without video. Here is a video tutorial.
<-- This method would be a simple podcast recording. If students need to edit their file, to add different segments or to take out small errors, they should record and edit in STUDIO!
Once you've completed your file, go back to the assignment page and choose "Canvas Studio" to get to the library to "Embed" then "Submit."
There is also an option in Canvas for students to upload Media if they've already done it on their phone, used the Camera App, or Screencastify on their Chromebook.
