End of School Year Procedures
Student Devices
Chromebook TESTING Check Day will be on Wednesday, May 8.
Use a class roster to mark off that all students who have their Chromebook during Eagle Time on this day. Follow up with students through Friday, May 10.
The roster columns should be labeled
Student Name
Chromebook ready
Have a charger ready to bring on May 24You can match the roster with this spreadsheet of Chromebooks that are currently being repaired or replaced. Also, Tab #2 are students who are Day Users and won't receive a device.
Tab #3 of the spreadsheet says, "Missing Chromebooks." Add students here AFTER May 10th if they have gone 3 days without bringing it. Thrash will do a search to find last user/last use. OR send them to the Library to talk to Thrash about it.
If there is no name on the Chromebook, Thrash can scan any Chromebook at the Library Catalog to tell you the owner, feel free to bring devices down. We have lots of sibling swaps, for example!
Look at each device. If they have cracks or other glitchy issues, send them to the library to do a helpdesk ticket! (We don't replace keys.)
Ask about the charger. Make sure they have one at home to bring in. See tab #4 in the spreadsheet. If they've already received, they won't get another one.
If they haven't received and have lost theirs, I can give them one tomorrow. They must look for 24 hours at home before I give.
If theirs is broken/not charging, have them bring it in for me to fix or replace. (Often it's the CB or the connection in between brick and cable.)
Students need to show you as they shut down and restart the Chromebook, practicing their username/password. Some students only know their password so be prepared to provide username using the directions on this doc.
This also makes sure the CB is up to date. Staff and students can check the current ChromeOS version on the login screen by pressing ALT and V keys together. In the top right corner of the screen, the current ChromeOS version will display. You want to see 118 OR HIGHER there, or the CB won't work for testing.
If they need a case, we have LOTS, send them down to get it. (We will make labels later this month to put in them, so everyone needs a case!)
Thanks for helping us make Testing as smooth as possible!
Chromebooks and chargers will all be labeled and turned in to 1st period teachers on Friday, May 24th for testing.
Technology Storage
Laptop and Chromebook Carts - will need to ALL come to the library before 3:30 on Wednesday, June 12, the last day of school. Students CAN safely and slowly push them down, they have fast wheels). If you have a lock, lock the cart and leave the key in lock.
iPads - bring to the library to check in. We can put post-its on them to store in the locked library storage room for the summer.
Unmounted projectors and document cameras (Elmo & Ladibug) are assigned to your classroom and must remain in that room. Find a safe cabinet to put them in with their cable.
Do NOT unplug display panels, mounted projectors, or desktop computers.
TURN OFF Ceiling-mounted box TVs - The ceiling mounted old ones, these are on their last leg and we want them to last! Come by the library if you need a remote, I have extras.
Staff desktop computers provided by the district must remain in their assigned location, plugged in, and powered off.
Staff laptops should be taken home for safe storage. Thrash could store them in our locked AV room if you would like them here safe. Bring them by as you leave on workdays.
