Goal 1: Teachers and students will be able to build positive relationships.
Goal 2: Students will be able to develop communication through written and verbal team through project based novels.
Goal 3: Students will learn to read with fluency; along with developing their vocabulary.
Goal 4: Students will pass their course EOG with at least 75%.
Goal 5: Students will be able to leave 8th Grade ELA inspired to achieve goals in high school.
Materials & Technology: Google Meets Google Chromebooks. Students will need access to the internet for various homework and project assignments. If you need a hotspot, please contact the school for further information.
Be on time.
Be prepared. This includes wardrobe virtually. Please be fully clothed, no bonnets, no durags, and no head scarfs.
Be responsible.

All Davis Deans are expected to follow and adhere to all Wake County Public School System and Ligon Magnet Middle School rules and guidelines, as well as classroom rules and expectations. Every Davis Dean is expected to participate and act as a contributing member of the class. Cooperation and teamwork is expected from everyone. Please follow the following rules and expectations.
Profanity and offensive language will not be tolerated in my classroom, such as gay, homo, fag, nigga, and nigger. It is offensive to me and to your fellow peers. I understand you may use this in your personal time, but NOT IN MY CLASSROOM.
In case you are absent, you have five days to turn in your late assignment without penalty. This does not include projects. If you are not present for class, you will be marked absent. However, you have until 11:59 pm to turn in assignments to be marked present daily.
All classwork assignments are due by the due date unless specified by Professor Davis. After the due date, two points will be deducted for turned in late. No excuses, just results!

Tests/Projects - 50%
Plagiarism/Cheating is not tolerated. Research should be authentic and properly documented in writing assignments. Students are responsible for completing all assignments individually unless otherwise instructed. Students who copy other students’ work or allowed their work to be copied will share the grade. For example: Student A receives a 100, both students will receive a 50. Essays and projects will result in a zero. Those caught, will sign a plagiarism form and parents will be contacted.
