Welcome to the 2019-2020 School Year! This year is going to be fantastic and I am very excited. We have a busy year ahead of us and it is going to fly!
River basin- All the water, both above and below ground that flows into a single river. Edges are made by ridges, which are the highest line surrounding the river, which is the lowest point.
Aquifer- A porous underground area that stores water
Non-Point Source Pollution- Pollution in an area that you cannot point at, usually run- off
Point- Source Pollution- Pollution that you can point at and say "That is where the pollution is coming from" Examples are a leaking pipe, leading septic system, oil dripping from a car, someone washing their car in their drive way
Eutrophication- the entire process of water getting too many nutrients, having an algae bloom and causing a hypoxic water system
Algae bloom- A large increase in algae growing in an enclosed water system. This algae takes the oxygen out of the water and prevents any further oxygen from entering the system.

Interactive Periodic Table http://elements.wlonk.com/ElementsTable.htm
Welcome to Quarter Two! We will be focusing on Chemistry for the entire quarter, broken up into several sub-units. We will be starting in atomic structure, moving into the Periodic Table, Physical and Chemical Properties/Changes, Elements/Compounds/Mixtures, Reactivity and The Law of Conservation of Mass. It is going to be a great unit!
We have a fantastic curriculum and will be covering the hydrosphere, chemistry, microbiology, biotechnology, ecology and history of the earth/life over the course of the year.
You can find any documents that we use on the Canvas page for your class, which is accessible through the Moore Square website in the Student Application section.
I can be found on Twitter @kpriceofscience This is a class Twitter where I will be posting pictures, labs and other information that we have to share!
I will be sending home a class news letter every 3-4 weeks with information on what we are doing in class, pertinent dates and other 'Need to Knows'. Please keep your eyes open for these at home!
