Please check out the three videos I have included below. I have included an intro/welcome video for you to watch with your child. I have also included one of many warmups. Lastly, our first lesson's focus is on "Mindfulness" and is practiced in a student led Mindfulness and Yoga video that I made with my students. Please take the time that to take breaks from school work when needed as well as technology. These short brain breaks will help break up your child's day and lift their mood and lower their stress level which will hopefully increase overall academic success. This is an important lesson focus for me because I personally struggled with this as a child. I can still remember the frustrations of sitting still, not focusing and feeling discouraged. This is why I became a teacher! 🙂 As you will hear in my intro video, these lessons are to be fun and loosely based with lots of flexibility. Whatever you do is great. By the way... thank you for all your hard work at home
Lesson 1 Warm Up-
Quarter 1 Warm Up- (High Intensity- K-5) Used to reinforce and practice Push-ups and Curl-Ups for Grades k-5. (Push-ups and curl ups are part off our "welnet" testing criteria for grades 3-5. This is a fun chance to encourage your kids to "Beat Coach". Parents, you can join in too! This can be used any day as a warm up or a "brain break". I encourage brain breaks from technology and school work as often as possible to get those little bodies and brains moving and boosting their academics and overall mood.

Online Main Lesson 1- "Mindfulness for the elementary student".
Did you know that a growing body of science, including the work of Harvard University’s Center for the Developing Child, has found that toxic stress can impede healthy development, literally changing children’s brains and affecting their capacity to absorb even the best instruction? Research shows that mindfulness skills improve memory, organizational skills, reading and math scores, all while giving kids the tools they need to handle toxic stress. With small steps we can work on this together at Baucom!
Need a calming activity for your child during this lengthy stay at home? Guess what... so do they! They need LOTS and LOTS of movement everyday while at home with you. They need at least 3 hours a day of play, but hopefully they are getting much more! Here is a great way to come down from intense game play while practicing mindfulness together as a family. This isn't just about Yoga for our youth, I made this video in hopes of creating a chance for our kids to slow down and have a mindful moment in our busy and technology filled everyday lives. Finding peace is important! This would be a great activity to do daily as a family. There is no limit to how often you can practice. Talk to your child about "Mindfulness" and ask questions about how they feel. This is something that can be worked on as a family as it naturally works its way in to your family conversations or schedule. I will provide more videos soon!
This is a great 7 minute mindfulness and yoga session made by my students and performed by my students. Please practice this as often as needed. Preferably as a family. This is a very calming session that can be used at any time to ease anxiety and regain peace/focus. Enjoy....
