Mount Vernon MS Professional Learning and PD

Welcome. This site is a curated 'shelf' of learning opportunities for us as Mount Vernon educators that can be accessed from your home.

For each resource + description listed below, simply click on the picture (or the link in the text) to be taken to the resource. I'll continue to add to this list throughout the coming weeks and months. This 'shelf' will grow in a measured way, however! Right now, educators are being bombarded with digital learning opportunities. [Including spamming from EdTech for-profit companies.] Lists of hundreds of resources can be daunting and less helpful then a targeted list of ideas curated by a librarian. 😊

As we get specific resources from WCPSS or DPI, I'll insert links here as well.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please reach out to me at jstivers@wcpss.net. Be safe and be well!

Equity.

Project READY

Project READY is a free, self-paced, anti-racist curriculum for educators and librarians.

It is appropriate for both educators just beginning to think about equity issues and educators who have already been working and studying in this field.

If you are interested in working through these modules as part of a community, please let me know. I am part of a group doing some initial planning to facilitate this distance learning for interested WCPSS educators (and beyond).

Community: Building a Virtual PLN.

A virtual professional learning network is crucial for educators--especially now that we are physically isolated.

Twitter

Using Twitter to build a virtual PLN can be a powerful way to access new resources and frameworks, ultimately improving our educational practices.

New to Twitter? Create an account, and a handle (don't worry--you can always change this later on). Using the search box, browse away. Search for your favorite teachers, authors, thinkers, scholars, and scientists.

In the Twitterverse already, but not 100% sold? Join TwitterChats that interest you, Expand who you follow. Search through popular edu hashtags to engage with other educators. #edutwitter #edchat #alted #TLchat #mathchat #sschat #scichat #engchat
