Health Science I Honors

Hi! Welcome to the Health Science I Website. My name is Ms. Watkins and this will be my 26th year in Education. I hold certifications in all the Science areas including Agriculture, Agribusiness and Health Science. However, I have the most fun when teaching Biomed, Health, Astronomy, and Chemistry. I have 3 children (1 boy-24, and 2 girls-20 and 13) and two cats.

Parents please feel free to browse our website as students will use this site as their main source for classroom information.

Health Science I focuses on human anatomy, physiology and human body diseases and disorders, and biomedical therapies. Students will learn about health care careers within the context of human body systems. Projects, teamwork, and demonstrations serve as instructional strategies that reinforce the curriculum content. English language arts and science are reinforced in this course. Work- based learning strategies appropriate for this course include service learning, and job shadowing. Apprenticeship and cooperative education are not available for this course.

Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) competitive events, community service, and leadership activities provide the opportunity to apply essential standards and workplace readiness skills through authentic experiences. Biology is recommended as good preparation for this course.
