About Ms. Cleland

I am thrilled to be a part of the AFES team! I am looking forward to working with your child.

Like many of you, I wasn't born here but am so glad to live here now! I grew up in Worcester, Massachusetts, where I received a BA in visual art. I then studied elementary education at Framingham State College. I have taught in three states: Massachusetts, Virginia, and North Carolina. This will be my twelfth year teaching. I have taught grades 1-3, but first grade is my absolute favorite!

I have taught diverse populations of students and enjoy learning about and celebrating other cultures. Literacy is at the heart of every subject I teach, and I hope to foster your child's love of reading by strengthening their skills and building their confidence in their ability to read.

My top three Positivity Project traits are spirituality, love, and gratitude. I'm looking forward to introducing your child to this program and learning about his/her strengths. Each child has unique qualities that contribute to our classroom community. Building a positive and supportive classroom community is my favorite part of teaching!

My daughter Aislinn is joining us for kindergarten this year! She is energetic and loving. I also have a friendly dog named Boston and a cuddly cat named Kaiser. I love to travel, read, and spend time with family and friends.
