Hello!

My name is Cesia Soto, and I'm excited to be teaching your child this year! I recently graduated from the University of Mount Olive with a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education in the spring of 2022. I am not new to Carpenter Elementary's kindergarten team; I was an instructional assistant and took a long-term substitute position as lead teacher right after I graduated in spring. This will be my first full year of teaching, and I am very excited for the adventure!

I'd want to start by briefly introducing myself. I am a wife and a mother of four children, one who is a second-grader at Carpenter. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, going for walks along Cary's lovely greenways, and, of course, drinking a good cup of coffee!

Learning, in my opinion, should be authentic and enjoyable, and children should be active participants in their own development. I believe students should have access to hands-on activities, be able to make their own decisions and let their curiosity guide their learning. I believe students need the opportunity build higher-order skills such as problem-solving and critical thinking and technology should to be integrated into the school day. Lastly, I believe it is important to create a welcoming learning environment, especially for the youngest learners. As an elementary teacher, I am fully aware that I am shaping my students' school experience, and I will work hard to ensure that their experience is both positive and nurturing.

I look forward to working with both you and your child!
