About me

Welcome to Mrs. Rohini Muthusubramanian's website!

I'd like to begin with the meaning of my name. I was a curious 1st grader since it was an uncommon name in South India. My parents decided on this name since it's a star that shines bright in the sky according to Hinduism and informed it means a bright woman. I learned from my mom that Rohini Devi played a prominent role in nurturing Krishna, a famous Hindu God. I was truly excited in middle and high school since I learned about series of satellites and rockets developed and launched by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) in my name. Moving to the US, I found that people were more curious about my last name than my first name! I request students to call me Mrs. M or Mrs. Rohini (or challenge yourself to call me Ms. Muthu-subra-man-ian). I believe correct pronunciation of a name shows your respect for the person, reach out to learn it right :)

I always wanted to be a teacher since kindergarten. I've seen my family and my teachers eager to learn something new and share the knowledge with others. My family and friends share childhood memories of me pretending to be a teacher at the drop of a hat. I'm an enthusiastic, positive, dedicated, hard-working and intrinsically motivated educator. I have high expectations for EVERY student I teach and focus on building on my students' strengths. I'm big on GROWTH mindset - mistakes are expected, respected, inspected and reflected in my classroom daily!

This is my ninth year of teaching and fourth year teaching at Mills Park Middle. I have a 10 year old boy who is a 5th grader. My husband works for Fidelity Investments. I enjoy cooking, dancing, reading, decorating and traveling. I truly enjoy teaching middle school-aged youth and igniting the curiosity to learn. I'm looking forward to another wonderful year of learning!

Mission For My Class
