Hi! I am so excited and energized to be part of your child's education this year! I grew up in Orange County, CA and moved down to San Diego for college. I majored in Child Development/Liberal Studies and minored in music, and I went on to receive my Master's Degree in Cross-Cultural Teaching, as well as my National Boards Certification. My husband and I have known each other for 32 years, and we have three boys. We moved here to North Carolina eight years ago, and we've really enjoyed slowing down our pace of life and experiencing some seasons (I am OBSESSED with snow)! As a family, we LOVE to do anything active - hiking, skiing, kayaking, paddleboarding, surfing, camping, etc. We built a home right here in New Hill, and we're thrilled to be putting down roots in this beautiful town!
I have been in education for 28 years, and I have several passions that guide my teaching and classroom environment. First off, character development is of utmost importance to me, as it lends to teaching to the whole child, and it will certainly guide many of our classroom conversations. I strongly implement and model living a life of integrity, honestly, and respectfulness. Secondly, music is a passion of mine, and the students will be exposed to music throughout every day. Lastly, literacy - and more specifically developing a life-long love of reading - is one of my greatest aspirations for my students.
