My name is Kelly Kirk and I have been teaching for twenty two years, eighteen of them at Wakefield Elementary with ALL twenty two years in kindergarten.  I attended Appalachian State University and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Psychology.  My husband's name is Brandon and we have two boys: Brayden (12) and Carter (8).  Brayden attends Wakefield Middle School in 7th grade while Carter is in 3rd grade here at Wakefield.  We have the sweetest Cavapoo puppy named Riley!  She will be 2 years old in December. It has been a joy having her join our family!  I enjoy being outside with my boys, working out at Find A Way Fitness, reading and watching reality television.  When I am not teaching, I enjoy going to the Hurricanes hockey games, cheering on the Carolina Tar Heels, and spending time with my family and friends.  The growth children experience in kindergarten lays the foundation of learning that I feel lucky to be a part of each year.

Phyllis Meares has been working as an assistant in Kindergarten at Wakefield Elementary for 22 years.  She is married to Randy and they have three adult children and four grandchildren.  Mrs. Meares has lived in Wake County for over 40 years.  She has worked at Saint Augustine's College as a Secretary and as a Customer Service Representative for Progress Energy and BellSouth.  After being a stay at home mom for eight years, she returned to work and found her passion in Kindergarten.  She loves to read, watch movies and spend time with her family. She has an Associates Degree from Southeastern Community College.
