One of my goals for this school year is to maintain a positive classroom climate by promoting a respectful and engaging tone with my students, providing positive feedback; making each student feel happy, safe, and welcomed; praising diversity; and encouraging my students to learn from each others’ cultural backgrounds in order to respect different perspectives.
Some of the resources I am currently implementing to achieve my goals are including NC Common Core Standards and WIDA descriptors in my lesson plans, participating in ESL professional development meetings, attending mentor meetings, following ESL curriculum, integrating EL curriculum into lessons, etc.
My activities are based on lessons that include diversity, fostering respect and tolerance for each others' points of views, and promoting students' engagement in the classroom.
My second goal is to make an impact on students’ learning by establishing lesson plans using the North Carolina Common Core State Standards (NCCCSS) and WIDA descriptors to ensure growth for all students. I adjust my lessons, check in for comprehension, and use students’ responses to guide instruction. Among some of the actions I am taking to attain this goal are designing lessons that incorporate the NCCCSS and WIDA descriptors, developing LEP plans for all my English language learners, and monitoring students' academic growth.
