HOMEWORK POLICY
Home study, which is traditionally known as homework, is an effective practice to reinforce skills the students are learning in class. I will not assign specific activities to be completed and returned the next day, but I will provide ideas and activities you can encourage your child to work on at home, as needed.
The weekly newsletter, Merrin Mail, will list ideas for home study, under each subject, to help reinforce skills and concepts learned in class.
Students should read nightly for 20 minutes. This is one of the most important activities you can do with your child, as it has a positive effect on reading abilities.
Math sheets will be sent home periodically, in case your child would like more practice. These will not be checked or collected, but if your child needs more assistance with a particular skill, please send the sheet in with a note, so I can review it with them.
Special projects may be assigned throughout the year.
Please contact me if you have any questions or need assistance to support your child's learning at home.
BEHAVIOR PLAN
Students are encouraged to S.O.A.R.
Show Kindness
Operate Safely
Act Responsibly
Respect Ourselves and Others
Students who exhibit these behaviors will receive verbal praise and incentives.
Consequences
Students will receive a warning if acting inappropriately.
If inappropriate behavior continues, parents will receive a note, Talking Points message, e-mail, or phone call to discuss a plan to improve the behavior.
If inappropriate behavior is of a serious nature, the principal will be notified, and a parent-teacher conference may be scheduled.
