Zebulon Gifted and Talented Magnet Middle School
Welcome! My name is Mrs. Greene. I am the AIG teacher and coordinator at ZMS. If your student was enrolled at ZMS 2022-2023, then we are likely already acquainted. If not, then we will get to know each other this school year, and welcome to our learning community!
Fall testing will happen in October, and Spring testing will take place in January. Eligible students will be notified in writing through their homeroom period. Required paperwork should be completed and submitted prior to testing. Teachers will conduct observations and data digs utilizing various points of data throughout the school year to identify eligible students.
Students who are already AIG identified will be served in their area of identification in two main ways. One way will consist of classroom visits to their core ELA and/or Math class, throughout the school year, to provide enrichment opportunities in their area of strength.
The other way is through a class called Logical Minds, a magnet elective designed to meet the needs of AIG Students. The class meets during second and third quarters only in room 216. The class is rigorous and is designed to promote exploration and problem based learning for your student. Extension projects, activities, and tasks related to their core will be the focus in the elective.
A DEP (Differentiated Education Plan) will be sent home will all AIG identified students in late Fall. The plan is signed by all stakeholders responsible for delivering AIG services.
There will be two virtual parent meetings, one in the Fall and one in the Spring. A talking points message will be sent out in advance with links.
