2024-25 School Year - New Legislation
Starting July 1, 2024, all middle and high school students in North Carolina will need to complete a Career Development Plan (CDP) to advance to the next grade according to the new law, N.C. Gen. Stat. § 115C-158.10.
This requirement begins for students finishing 8th grade in the 2024-2025 school year.

Exploring Personal Characteristics and Careers (9-week course EY102Y0)
Grades: 6, 7, 8 Prerequisite: None
Develop an orientation to self-awareness and the world of work. Explore how interests, attitudes, values, learning styles, skills, and personality influence career choices. Build an understanding of the National Career Development Guidelines, including communication skills, personal management, and teamwork. Gain the knowledge and skills for careers in all CTE pathways.
Exploring Careers and Employment (9-week course EY112Y0)
Grades: 7, 8 Prerequisite: None
Develop an orientation to career planning and future employment success. Explore the world of work, skills needed for employment success, and the career planning and preparation process. Build understanding of the National Career Development Guidelines, including communication skills, personal management, and teamwork. Gain the knowledge and skills for careers in all CTE pathways.
