ABOUT Mrs. Alford

Hi kindercrocs! My name is Katie Alford and I am your child's kindergarten teacher for this school year! This will be my 10th year at Sycamore Creek Elementary - the BEST school ever!  I am originally from Winston-Salem, but moved to Raleigh in 2012 when I began school at NC State. I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education with a STEM concentration.  As of December 2020, I am a Nationally Board Certified Teacher! 

When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family! My husband and I welcomed our first child, a baby girl named Caroline on March 1st, 2025. We also have a dog-like cat named Bella who we adore so much. I also enjoy traveling to Oak Island Beach with my friends and family. In my free time, I love to read, watch college sports, and go to the pool or beach.  I am a HUGE college sports fan and enjoy cheering on the Wolfpack! GO PACK!

I believe in providing your children with a safe and nurturing learning environment that supports their academic needs as well as their social and emotional needs. In my classroom, we celebrate all accomplishments - no matter how BIG or small! :) 

I may be biased, but Kindergarten is truly the best! I can't wait to see all they learn and grow this yes. I can't WAIT to meet all of soon! ❤️
