play production

 What is Play Production? 

Play Production is an after school club in which students will get hands-on experience creating a production. This is a unique experience in which your student can learn about theatre in a way they could not in a theatre class. 

ANY current Herbert Akins Road Middle School student in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade may participate in play production. Please note that play production is an after-school club, which is completely separate from theatre & dramatics classes during the school day.  

Students DO NOT have to be currently enrolled in a theatre or dramatics class to participate in play production. Since this is an after school activity, all students (even those who are not enrolled in a theatre or dramatics class at all) may participate. 

Students have the option to be on-stage or back-stage in the production. Students choosing to be in the production will audition in front of a small panel composed of Mr. Pressley and other teachers at Herbert Akins Road Middle. That panel will then cast the show based on skill level shown at auditions. 

Students wishing to participate in tech or anything backstage will contact Mr. Pressley for a tech interview.  Students will be assigned tech duties by Mr. Pressley based on prior experience and schedule availability. Don't have any tech experience? No problem! Now is the time to learn! :) 

General Play Production Information

 This year we will be doing one production in the spring semester. 

The title of the show is The Little Mermaid Jr.

May 2nd @ 6:30 p.m. 

May 3rd @ 6:30 p.m. 

May 4th @ 2:00 p.m.
