I love teaching mathematics, and I'm looking forward to my 25th year at Ligon. Before teaching at Ligon, I taught for five years in Houston, Texas. This is my sixth year as a member of Khan Academy's teacher ambassador program. I am happy to answer any questions you have regarding the amazing, and free, resources available from Khan Academy. In my free time, I enjoy learning on Khan Academy, working on math puzzles, listening to my wife play violin, and playing computer games with my best friend from high school.
All of the information pertaining to the courses I teach can be found Canvas. If you haven't yet signed up for a parent account, please let me know if you need any help doing so.

I want students working towards attaining and maintaining full mastery of all of the math skills from this year and previous years. I want students to practice, analyze errors, and ask questions. When they are practicing on Khan Academy, I want them focused on mastery learning with a growth mindset. They can go back and attempt each exercise as often as they need to in order to attain and maintain mastery & improve fluency. Khan Academy allows students to set their own pace, so they can work ahead and review previous skills at any time. Khan Academy has step-by-step solutions to each problem, so when students haven't yet mastered a skill, they can still copy down the correct work and then ask questions about the steps that they haven't yet mastered.
Please email me (jwilson3@wcpss.net) with any questions or concerns you may have. I am happy to help.
