Career Development and Community Engagement

School-to-Career (STC) is an initiative and a philosophy for career development and community engagement in Wake County Schools. It is a method of delivering our students' curriculum that links classroom knowledge to real life. All students, whether college-bound or workforce-bound, are more likely to succeed academically if they see a direct correlation between their course work and their future beyond school. At Moore Square we strive to provide this connection for the students through experiences supported by our community partners. With the assistance of our community partners we provide students the opportunity to visit a variety of work environments, hear from successful individuals about their individual career journey and participate in career readiness programs. During the 2018-19 school year, our community engagement and career development experiences included 8000 student contacts with over 500 community volunteers. These experiences included off-site learning experiences, classroom guest speakers, mock interviews, career interest inventories, classroom programs hosted by Red Hat volunteers, and participation SECU Reality of Money, JA in a Day and in NCBCE Students@Work program. Please join us to strengthen the connection between curriculum and the world of work! Please contact me by email or complete Volunteer for Moore
