About Me

Hi!

My name is Megan Nelson and I'm originally from Overland Park, Kansas. This is my first year at BRE and I'll be teaching 3rd grade all subjects.

My Education:

• I swam for University of North Dakota for two years, then transferred to, and continued my swimming career and undergrad at University of Arkansas, Little Rock. I graduated in 2013 with a degree in Elementary Education.

• In 2016, I graduated with my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas.

• I have traveled to rural parts of China three different summers to work with rural Chinese English teachers on giving them strategies, activities, ideas, etc. on how to teach kids English. This has been such an amazing and rewarding opportunity!

My Family:

• I'm the second of three girls in my family! My older sister and I are Irish twins (11 months apart) and she has a very sweet 8 year old girl named Santana who just moved to NC last year! My little sister just graduated from Kansas State University in May and is ten years younger than me and just moved to Wilmington!

• My family lived in Kansas, but they all just moved to Four Oaks, NC !

• I don't have kiddos of my own, but I have a little pup named Willow :). She will be 3 in November and I love her :).
