MackinVia is a robust platform that hosts class sets for all of the English anchor texts, and the platform is now live and ready to use. We are working with the English department to assign texts starting in second quarter. Please contact Dr. Gold if you have questions or want to set up a time to learn how to make this new tool work for you and your students!
Even though we are learning remotely, students can still check out our new SAT and ACT prep kits. Each kit contains calculator, timer, flashcards, practice test book, grammar guide, and math guide. If you know a student who needs to check out a kit, have them contact Dr. Gold to arrange for curbside pick up service.
Don't forget! The media center staff host daily virtual office hours to help you with lesson plans, research, and technology tools. Join us during lunch at Google Meet Code: MHSmediacenter.
Students in our Young Adult Literature and Library Media Studies courses have been very busy! Check out the blog posts below, authored by students, to see what they learned during Banned Books Week!

Library Media Studies students created informational videos explaining how to find copyright-free online that can ethically be used in projects. They also explained how to cite these images properly. Check out the video on the left to see an example (and maybe learn a few things)! This video is available for you to use with your students as well.
The Points of View Reference Center gives a balanced perspective on current issues, and it is a great starting point for student research. Each issue includes links to related issues, relevant news articles, journal articles, and citations. This FREE resource is included in our NC Wise Owl databases! Click the image to explore this resource.
As residents of Wake County, you and your students are entitled to a free library card to access all of WCPL's physical and virtual services. Need a card? Click here to start your application.
If you or your students need access to library materials, curbside pickup is available on a limited basis. Patrons can place holds in Destiny and pickup during school hours. Email Ms. Kraus for details or to schedule a pickup.
All staff members are able to reset student's passwords. For a quick reference guide on how to go about resetting, please click here!
Students have been raving over reading Frankenstein for Ms. Balas's AP Lit class.
Dr. Gold recommends the book People Like Us by Dana Mele as a great spooky season read!
