This video explains how to more efficiently search sites like Google and databases using Boolean Operators ("and," "or," and "not"), as well as Boolean Modifiers (parenthesis, asterisks, and quotation marks). Looking to meet goals for teaching 21st Century Skills and help students navigate their digital world responsibly? Common Sense Media has a full set of lessons, including several short (15 minute) mini-lessons, on a variety of Digital Citizenship topics. The lessons include everything you need to teach relevant topics such as the consequences of online hate speech or the complex effects of big data. Check it out here.
The Library of Congress has made their newspaper archives searchable, giving you and your students access to thousands of public domain (copyright-free!) primary source images, maps, advertisements, headlines, and cartoons. You can watch the demo video and check it out here!
