Mental Health and Counseling 1 & 2
Principles of Family and Human Services
Mental Health and Counseling 1 Syllabus
Mental Health and Counseling 1 is part of the Career and Technical Education Program and the newest member of the Family and Consumer Sciences Department. It is an immersive class designed to introduce students to the field of Mental Health and Counseling while also providing students tools to promote mental health in their own lives. In this course, we talk about a wide range of topics within the mental health field- ex. Mindfulness, healthy relationships, family cycles, trauma and more. Throughout the course, students will be given many opportunities to give their own personal input and thoughts. Discussion is a core part of how students learn and grow in this class. While many mental health practices are discussed and examined, this course is in no way intended to be a substitute for therapy or counseling. Our hope is that this course is a great introduction to Mental Health & Counseling for our students and provides them with many tools to live healthy lives!
Principles of Family and Human Services Syllabus
This class is part of the Career and Technical Education Program and the Family and Consumer Sciences Department. I anticipate students to grow as professionals within this classroom while gaining valuable and practical life skills. It is expected that the students always conduct themselves as young professionals in anticipation of their future careers and aspirations. In this class students are required to take the state assessment that will count 20% of their final grade.
