About me
I grew up in Massachusetts and graduated from High School in 1989 (last of the 80s first of the future!) I received my Bachelor's of Science from Colby College in Waterville, Maine in 1993. I spent a few years working in research in Bar Harbor, Maine at the Jackson Laboratory, and then in a clinical setting in a Reproductive Endocrinology private practice as a laboratory technician in Rochester New York. I received my Master's of Science in Biology from SUNY Brockport (Brockport, New York) in 2001. After completing my degree, I stayed home with my 3 children until our youngest entered Kindergarten. I came to teaching as a lateral entry teacher in 2010 at The Franciscan School as a 6th grade science teacher. I then taught High School Earth Science and AP Environmental Science at Longleaf School for the Arts in Raleigh. I began at Broughton in 2020 and I'm very excited to be teaching Honors Biology, APES, and IB Biology SL at Broughton High School.
I love the outdoors and am an avid hiker and runner. I am assistant coach for Cross Country, and both indoor and outdoor track and field at Broughton. I combine my love of the sciences and the outdoors by planning international travel trips for my students.
