I was born in Raleigh and raised in Greensboro, before returning to Raleigh for college. I earned my B.A. in Political Studies and Sociology from Meredith College and later completed my M.Ed. at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Go Heels!). I am a National Board Certified Teacher with over 20 years of experience in education.
Over the course of my career, I have been honored as Rolesville Middle School’s Teacher of the Year and named a semifinalist for WCPSS Teacher of the Year. In 2021, I was proud to be selected as WYWLA’s Teacher of the Year. In July 2026, I will further my work as a global educator through a Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms placement in India, where I will engage in international professional learning and cross-cultural exchange. You can follow my journey on YouTube.
Outside the classroom, I live with my husband and our dog, Frasier, in downtown Raleigh. I enjoy reading, experimenting with vegan recipes, and traveling.
Me in 8th grade.
