Information overload? These are the most important DLL things to know to stay on track:Â
Schedule and plan your MTAC meetings for the 2025-26 school year. If you need support, reach out to Susan B. or Kristel and access the MTAC resources on the website.
One of my favorite things about libraries is that you can move in them. While not the gym nor the soccer field, our spaces invite students to move, to explore, to seek, and perhaps to dance. Teaching students how to navigate library spaces is critical; we want to model operating in a shared communal room while also facilitating independence. Heading in the right direction for a particular need, resource, or activity is important to their success and developing their sense of belonging–regardless of whether they’re 6 or 16.Â
With that in mind, take a look at your wayfinding tools and signs, think about your students who need a little extra help, and turn up the music to invite some wiggle to their walk.

Are you new? Did we miss celebrating your birthday last year? Help us update our birthday list by completing this brief form.Â
In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, we recognize and celebrate the richness of our country’s Hispanic heritage. We have compiled resources for you to use with teachers, students, and families as well as to inform your library programming and instruction. While we encourage activities, lessons, and resources inclusive of Hispanic and Latinx representation throughout the year, we take this opportunity to celebrate and learn.Â
We have revised and updated our Media and Technology Advisory Committee (MTAC) resources on the Library Media Services website for 2025-26. You’ll want to check out the extensive matrix of potential meeting topics, quarterly meeting agenda templates, a template to get updates from departments/grades, and protocols to employ as you facilitate your meetings.Â
Last month, we learned that the federal funds that we use to pay for subs when librarians attend in-person professional learning opportunities will not be available to us in the 2025-26 school year. Library Media Services designed its professional learning calendar based on the original allocation of funds; you see these courses and sessions listed in WakeLearns.Â
In light of this change in our funding, we are retooling how we will support you through PL this year. If you sign up for an in-person session, you will NOT receive a sub form from us as in years past. Before attending, you must have a conversation with your principal/administrator about your intended professional learning absence and if they’ll allow you to attend under the funding circumstances.
As we continue to reconfigure our plans, we will keep you informed about changes, use of district PL days, virtual offerings, and other details so that you can plan your year ahead and revise as necessary.
Elementary librarians, Susan B. will be sending out your school-specific circulation report that covers the full 2024-25 school year. If you’ll recall, we did not share the complete year with you when we provided reports last spring. We’re pleased to be able to follow up with your summative report so that you can reflect on last year’s data. As always, we’d like to thank our partners in Data, Research, and Accountability for their assistance and diligence with our project.Â
It's that time of year! Guidance for book recycling for 2025-26 is here. In case it's been a minute or if you're new, please refer to the linked document for recycling disposal of weeded library books, classroom books, and/or textbooks. If you have questions or are planning a larger weeding project, please reach out to anyone in Library Media Services first. Use us to help you navigate this work and to ensure a positive outcome. Our resumes should include "deaccession experts."Â
