Information overload? These are the most important DLL things to know to stay on track:Â
With Destiny moving past its serious BOY operational issues, examine how it can help you discuss your Collection Management Plan, circulation patterns, and curated Collections with your MTAC.
SLMC of the Year nominations are due at the end of the month!
Books in your collection that have never been opened. Or that time I visited a school library in Baltimore and saw Diary of a Wimpy Kid books sitting ON THE SHELVES. Now, you tell me the last time one of your Wimpy Kid books actually made it back to the shelf and stayed once it was checked in. You see why I took this as an ominous sign, like creepy music playing in a movie.
Take a look at your reports in Destiny and see what’s lurking with zero circulations. Bring that zombie-fied book to life. Consider the electrical shock of a good PR campaign: book talks, displays, tantalizing teasers, first chapter Fridays, “blind date” hidden covers, text pairings, etc. I hope to hear repeated exclamations of “It’s ALIVE!!” Muah-ha-ha -Kendra

In honor of National Native American Heritage Month, we recognize and celebrate the richness of our country’s indigenous communities and cultures. We have compiled resources for you to use with teachers, students, and families as well as to inform your library programming and instruction. While we encourage activities, lessons, and resources inclusive of indigenous representation throughout the year, we take this opportunity to celebrate and learn.Â
Libraries of all kinds are no stranger to games and gaming as active and passive programming, as ways to engage the community in the library, and as ways to increase engagement in both academic learning and social-emotional learning. We have compiled resources to help you plan your own games celebration as well as to share events going on at the Wake County Public Library.Â
We’ve bookmarked this page on the new WCPSS website. We suggest you might as well because sometimes you just need a reason to laugh, smile, and remember why we enjoy our jobs.Â
It's that time of year! Guidance for book recycling for 2025-26 is here. In case it's been a minute or if you're new, please refer to the linked document for recycling disposal of weeded library books, classroom books, and/or textbooks. If you have questions or are planning a larger weeding project, please reach out to anyone in Library Media Services first. Use us to help you navigate this work and to ensure a positive outcome. Our resumes should include "deaccession experts."Â
The new ISBN Comparison Tool in Back Office lets you quickly determine whether a list of ISBNs already exists in the district catalog. Upload a CSV file containing ISBNs, and Destiny will scan it for matching title records.Â
If you’ve been with Destiny Collections since their introduction, then you will be happy to know that with their evolution and upgrades, 1) there is no limit to the number of collections you can create, and 2) there is no limit to how many items a collection can contain.Â
