I admit that I love watching sports. I generally can’t participate in conversation about a new Netflix series, but I know some World Cup players simply because I will have random Premier League matches playing on the TV on Saturday mornings.Â
Regardless of whether you play, enjoy watching, or like a college friend of mine yell “yay, sports!,” with the enthusiasm of a musical theater major, there is a global connection agnostic of place and language through which we can reach students. I saw a quote from Matthew Robinson, a professor of sport management at the University of Delaware, that says, “In a world where there are so many forces trying to tear us apart, sport has the power to unite. Watching fans from around the world embrace America, and Americans embrace different cultures, has been inspiring.” I hope you’re inspired as we run into 2026-27. -Kendra
