July 2021

Welcome back to our year-round schools!

AAT Day

Year-Round AAT Day for Digital Learning and Libraries was held on Friday, July 2nd at McKimmon Center. It was great seeing so many of our school librarians and tech contacts in person! If you attended the meeting in person, you should have received a reminder prompting you to complete the WakeLearns survey to earn credit. If you did not attend the meeting in person, all year-round and modified calendar SLMCs have been registered for the AAT day course so you can access the information in Canvas. You can complete the course asynchronously to earn credit.

Responsive Library Services

We have updated and simplified the COVID-19 guidance on the Library Media Services site. There are no cleaning or distancing guidelines that are specific to the library. You should follow the protocols put in place by your administration and outlined by WCPSS.

We encourage everyone to return to in-person browsing and self-circulation for students in the building. We also hope you’ll work with your MTAC and your students to determine which services offered last year should be continued.

Holds

For schools who want to continue to provide students the opportunity to put books on hold, you’ll want to consider how Holds are set up in Destiny Back Office, especially whether you want students to be able to put holds on available copies. Directions for managing how Holds are set up can be found here: Setting Up the Option for Placing Holds

Planning for your first MTAC meeting

If you need help planning for your first MTAC meeting, you can find a new sample agenda for 2021-2022 on the MTAC Resources page of the Library Media Services site. The 2021-2022 Meeting 1 Sample Agenda includes links to help you share information about Student Device updates (Intranet, Guides to Tech site), DRPL Updates, WakeID Updates, and Canvas Updates with your MTAC.
