Our SSA meetings took place:
Wednesday, March 5th
6:30 - 7:15 pm VIRTUAL
Thursday, March 6th
7:45 - 8:30 am in the LES library.
Below are recordings of the ALS presentation on SSA as well as the presentation on FAQs about SSA. There is a printable informational sheet as well.
There is no paper form this year only online submissions.
No late submissions will be taken.
Submissions will go straight to the county not to Ms. Guza.
Mrs. Guza will just get a printed list of students to test.
This test is for placement for the 25-26 school year.
Missed the window? I am so sorry, but you will have to wait until next year to put forth a nomination.
Specific dates will be communicated with families of those students being tested.
Single Subject Acceleration (SSA) is the practice of assigning a student to a higher-grade level than is typical, given the student's age, for the purpose of providing access to appropriately challenging learning opportunities. SSA is an acceleration practice that allows students to show mastery of the content of a course without having taken the course.
What is the process for Single Subject Acceleration?
Parents can nominate his/her child to skip a grade level of content in either Language Arts OR Mathematics (in the Spring of 2025 for placement for the 25-26 school year).
Only students who are enrolled and attending WCPSS schools during the previous Nomination and Testing Windows will be eligible to participate in the in SSA during the upcoming school year. Schools will offer differentiation as needed for students entering WCPSS after the SSA deadlines.
More specific details will be shared in Mrs. Guza's informational meeting. At the meeting, parents will also have an opportunity to ask questions.
Will an AIG student receive gifted services even if they are participating in SSA ?
Yes. Participating in SSA is not considered AIG services, therefore identified AIG students will receive gifted services as outlined in their Differentiated Education Plan (DEP), as an extension of grade-level standards. A student does not have to be identified in the Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG) Program to participate in SSA.
If you have inquiries about this process, please contact Mrs. Guza (kguza2).
