Spanish at salem

¡Bienvenidos a la clase de español!

In Spanish class 6th and 7th grade students will first begin to develop listening and speaking skills, then read and write what they can say—familiar words, commands, phrases, short sentences, and basic questions.

Eighth grade students will be taking Spanish 1 for high school credit. This is a high school level course with a Spanish 1 multi-part exit exam that counts 20% of your child’s grade. Unfortunately, students may not retake the exit exam. Eighth grade students will learn to use predictable language in familiar settings. They will start to develop cultural awareness and the ability to recognize the products, practices, and perspectives of the culture. They will also use the language to expand their knowledge in all content areas. Eighth grade students will be tested on the four areas of proficiency -- reading, writing, listening, and speaking on familiar topics such as summer fun, weekend activities, friends, family, school life, and food.
