Birthday, Attendance and Illness Policies
Birthday, Attendance and Illness Policies
What birthday treats may I send for my child’s classmates?
• Due to dietary restrictions, possible allergies, and food sensitivities in the classroom, please keep popsicles, cupcakes and cookies for your at-home celebrations. Please keep celebratory decorations such as balloons at home as well.
• Please consider sending non-food treats. In the past, families have sent small novelty items such as pencils, mini erasers, pencil toppers, stickers, keychains, pop-its, etc. You may also choose to donate one of your child's favorite books or board games to our classroom in honor of your child.
Guidance on birthday parties and sending invitations
• Per WOES policy, we do not host birthday parties at school for any child's birthday.
• If you plan on having a birthday party outside of school, all invitations must be emailed or dispersed outside of school. Students and teachers are not permitted to pass out invitations for any reason.
• You may reach out to our room parent to obtain our class family directory information. Please note that our class directory will only include contact information for families who have granted permission for their contact information to be shared.
ALL ABSENSE NOTES MUST BE SUBMITTED THROUGH WHITE OAK'S ATTENDANCE GOOGLE FORM!
EXCUSED absences include:
Illness or injury
A death in the family
Health care appointments
Court appearances
Religious observance
Outside educational opportunities
All other absences are considered unexcused.
A note is required within two days of your child's return to school or the absences will be recorded as unexcused and cannot be changed.
