What we're learning this month in Kindergarten:

Math: In math, we will be learning to route count to 20 and higher, recognizing groups, learning about number scenes, subitizing, using one-to-one correspondence to count objects. Math vocabulary: count, numbers, number names zero to twenty, how many?, scene, group, partners.

ELA: In reading, we are reviewing all the letters and their sounds. We are learning the parts of a book, how to retell a story, what is the difference between fiction and non-fiction and how to choose a book to read. We will be introducing strategies for reading, the reading direction, letters make up words and words make up a sentence, and how to go for a picture walk when reading a book. ELA vocabulary: Title, Front cover, back cover, text, author, illustrator. We are also making sure we point to each word while we are reading and making sure to return sweep to the next line.

Writing: In writing this month we are practicing writing Upper and Lower case letters. We are learning how to label our pictures and that our pictures always go along with our words (text) when writing. Writing vocabulary: illustrations, Capital letter, lowercase letter, author, period, finger space.
